Download Information About a New Way to Connect This Winter...

Life is meant to be shared! God intends for us to experience life together, to be known and to be in fellowship with one another. And that extends beyond showing up at a service on Sunday. It means active participation with one another in meaningful relationship together. “For where two or three have gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst.” (Matthew 18:20) Many groups will meet on a new study, beginning February 5, in conjunction with the new sermon series. This is the perfect time to join a Small Group! If you are interested in joining with a currently meeting or soon-to-be-formed Small Group to study together this winter, or have questions about being a part of a Small Group at SPC, please contact the Small Group Leadership Team at smallgroups@spconline.org

Why would I want to be a part of a Small Group?

In a small group we can build genuine friendships and experience the reality of community. As we gather to study and pray, we grow in our faith as we are encouraged and challenged by others who are seeking to live a life of faith. As we join with others to serve, we share the love of Christ with the local community and help the church to fulfill its mission.

A 2007 research survey of thousands of Christians in over 200 congregations, spanning numerous denominations, stages of life and locations on the spiritual continuum, discovered that “spiritual community is a critical catalyst for spiritual growth". The same study revealed that “reflection on scripture” is the number one factor in predicting spiritual growth. These findings let us know that if we want to grow in our commitment to and relationship with Jesus Christ, gathering with others to build spiritual friendships and reflect together on the meaning of Scripture for our lives is a great way to go about it.

Is there a small group for me?

There are many different types of small groups. Some groups are couples' groups, others are men’s or women’s groups, others span the spectrum of genders, generations, and marital status. Some groups are Bible Studies, others focus their discussion around a book by a Christian author, still others practice spiritual disciples or service together.  The small group ministry wants to help you find the group that is the best fit for you. Groups meet at different times and in different locations around the region. New groups are constantly forming and reforming.
