Take Up Your Mat and Walk | Mark 2:3-11 | The Chosen (Sermon)
In this message from the “The Chosen” series, Rev. Jake Medcalf taught from Mark 2:3-11, setting the scene in Capernaum where Jesus taught in a crowded house and confronted questions about His authority. Reflecting on the healing of the paralyzed man lowered through the roof, he explored “paralysis” as losing strength or being unable to move forward, connecting it to fear, shame, guilt, grief, and pain. He highlighted the unique role of the friends’ faith—calling the church to “hold hope” for others and carry them toward Jesus. He emphasized Jesus’ declaration, “Your sins are forgiven,” as a visible healing that revealed an invisible authority to forgive sins.
