Come and See
Pastor Emeritus Tyler Easley launched the new sermon series “The Chosen,” using a clip from The Chosen alongside the reading from John 1, to show that the Gospels were written to lead people to believe Jesus is the Christ and find life in His name. He explained that the New Testament letters were written before the Gospels and that early Christian preaching centered on Jesus’ death and resurrection, which then made Jesus’ earthly life newly significant to believers. From John’s account, he highlighted three gospel-shaping themes: Jesus as the “Lamb of God” who takes away sin and foreshadows the cross, Jesus as “Messiah” confirmed by the resurrection, and Jesus’ power to transform people, illustrated by Simon being renamed Peter. He closed by urging listeners to respond personally in faith.
