SPC Institute | Economic Discipleship | Fall 2026 | Rev. Jake Medcalf

"What does it mean to follow Jesus with our money? In a culture where money is often considered private—and where our lives are shaped by earning, spending, consuming, and accumulating—Scripture invites us to imagine a different kind of economic life. Drawing from the Lazarus at the Gate curriculum, this SPC Institute class will explore what the Bible teaches about wealth and poverty and invite us to practice economic discipleship: living gratefully, consuming justly, living more simply, and giving more generously. Together, we’ll ask not simply, “How much should I give?” but “What would it look like for my whole economic life to be shaped by following Jesus?” This class will be taught by Lead Pastor, Jake Medcalf, and will meet in C-206.
